Tuition and Fees

Tuition and Fees at Carolina Christian College

Carolina Christian College is supported by the contributions of congregations and individuals from around the United States, which enables us to offer certain financial aid to deserving students to help cover costs of tuition and fees. Without their generous support it would be impossible for the college to provide students with quality ministerial education. The cost that the student pays is approximately 25% of the total cost of real tuition and fees.

Carolina Christian College does not want to turn students away because they lack funds and need financial aid to cover educational costs. However, the college has only limited scholarship funds available, and it expects the student to do everything possible to provide for his/her needs before requesting special assistance. Although most of our students work to secure funds to finance their education, we assist those who may have special needs. Each student is expected to assume his financial obligations in a conscientious manner.

Tuition and fees are due at the beginning of the semester. All tuition for part-time students must be paid at registration. Deferred payments may be arranged for full-time students with a minimum of 50% paid at registration and the balance in monthly installments.

Athletic student housing is secured by a non-refundable deposit and your room selection each year. Housing units are not guaranteed and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and should be confirmed with the Dean of Students (tyrone@carolina.edu). No final examination may be taken until accounts are made current. No degree or diploma will be granted or transcript issued until all financial obligations have been satisfactorily discharged.

Financial Services

Cost of Attendance

Carolina Christian College estimates the total cost of education, which includes direct costs and indirect costs. The direct costs include tuition, fees, and supplies, while the indirect costs include food, transportation, personal expenses, and room and board.

Indirect costs for room and board, personal expenses, and transportation are based on the Basic Family Budget Calculator from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), which is located at https://www.epi.org/resources/budget/.

The Family Budget Calculator provides estimates of costs by state, city, or metropolitan or rural area. Personal expenses included costs such as childcare, clothing, and other miscellaneous expenses. Students may also utilize our Net Price Calculator at https://carolina.edu/calculator/.

The cost of attendance and your SAI (FAFSA application) are used to determine the amount of financial aid that you could be eligible to receive.

Types of Financial Aid

Scholarships

Each year CCC awards the President Scholarship, the CCC Alumni REACH Scholarship, and the Hugh Marshall Scholarship to our incoming class of new students. Scholarships are intended to reward your accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. Scholarship recipients are only awarded to those students with a financial need to meet their tuition and fees obligation.

Grants

The Federal Pell Grant is a federally administered program that awards grants to undergraduate students on the basis of exceptional need who are enrolled for at least 3 credits and have not earned a previous degree.

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is a federal grant administered by the college. FSEOG is awarded to undergraduate students demonstrating exceptional need. Priority is given to full-time Federal Pell Grant recipients.

Loans

Federal Direct Loan Program

A subsidized loan is a fixed-rate loan awarded on the basis of need made directly by the federal government. Interest does not accrue while the student is enrolled at least half-time. Repayment begins 6 months after leaving school or enrolling less than half-time with a standard of 10 years to repay. Students must be enrolled as at least a half-time student to be eligible and be enrolled in an undergraduate program of study.

An unsubsidized loan is a fixed-rate, non-need-based loan made directly by the federal government. This loan is the same as the regular subsidized Direct Loan, with the exception that students must make interest payments while in school and during the grace period, or the interest will be capitalized. Students must be enrolled as at least a half-time student to be eligible.

First-time borrowers must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) online at studentloans.gov. The MPN is a legal document on which the borrower’s signature represents a promise to repay future disbursed loans.

In addition, Loan Entrance Counseling is required for all first-time Federal Direct Loan borrowers. Entrance Counseling can be completed online at studentloans.gov. During your online counseling session, you will be informed of your rights and responsibilities as a borrower and the terms and conditions associated with borrowing through the Federal Student Loan program. Exit counseling is required for students that depart the college by graduating, withdrawing, or dropping below half-time status. The online version of Exit Counseling can be completed at studentaid.gov and emailed to financialaid@carolina.edu.

Dependent undergraduate students can borrow up to:

  • $5,500 for freshmen (maximum subsidized portion, based on need: $3,500)
  • $6,500 for sophomores (Maximum subsidized portion, based on need: $4,500)
  • $7,500 for juniors and seniors (maximum subsidized portion, based on need: $5,500)

VA Benefits

Active Duty Veterans

  • If you served on active duty, you might be eligible for education benefits offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. For example, the Post-9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for educational and housing expenses to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
  • If you are currently serving in the military, you may be eligible for funding offered through the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance program. Check your eligibility status and the amount for which you qualify with your service prior to enrolling.
  • If you are the spouse or child of a service member who is serving on active duty Title 10 orders in the paygrades of E1-E5, O1-O2, or W1-W2, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the Department of Defense for education, training, and/or the occupational license and credentials necessary for a portable career.
  • If you are the spouse or child of a service member, you may be eligible for transfer of the service member’s Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to you.

Federal Aid

The Federal Student Aid Department is now accepting FAFSA applications as early as October 1. Previously this date was scheduled for January 1. This means that you will not have to wait to include your FAFSA on your tax returns.

  • Students should use tax returns from the prior 2 years. Ex. The 2019 application will use 2017 tax returns.
  • It is suggested to use the IRS Data Retrieval when completing the FAFSA.
  • Once you have completed your FAFSA, save your SAI and complete your See more about new student loans here.
  • Once you have completed your online interview, complete your entrance counseling and MPN. This is only required once while attending CCC.

Financial Aid Offer

Your offer of financial aid must be accessed via electronic mail. You WILL NOT receive a paper Financial Aid Award. Should you decide to reject or reduce any part of the offer, you must print the award letter, circle the financial aid that you wish to decline, and either fax it to our office, mail it, or come into the office and meet with a financial aid officer. Your offer of financial aid is only an offer of financial assistance. If your award includes a subsidized and/or unsubsidized Stafford Loan, you will need to complete our online process. That process includes completing an online application and promissory note for first-time borrowers. Returning borrowers who have completed a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note with the college before will not have to do another Master Promissory Note. Additionally, if your parent chooses, dependent students can apply for the Parent PLUS loan at studentloans.gov. Please note that the PLUS Loan is based upon the borrower’s credit history. It is no guarantee of funds. The parent borrower will undergo a credit check, and final approval rests with the lender.

Registration and Withdrawal

During the first week of the semester, the student has the privilege of making an approved change of schedule. A Change of Registration Form must be obtained at the Registrar’s office, signed by the student’s advisor and the Academic Dean, and returned to the Registrar’s office before the change in registration can be finalized.

The last day to add or drop a class will be two weeks after classes have begun.

A student is not excused from attending a course he or she wishes to discontinue until he or she has filed a Change of Registration Form. No course may be discontinued after the last day in which a drop is permitted. After that date, any failure to be in class is considered an absence, except in the case of extenuating circumstances. At the discretion of the instructor, under such circumstances the student may be assigned a grade of “R.” The student may enroll in the class a second time during the following semester in an effort to earn credit.

Refunds on Withdrawal

Any student who withdraws from a course or does not complete enrollment will receive a refund based on the following schedule for cash-paying students and VA students:

  1. Before the second week of the beginning of an 8-week period in a semester: 50%
  2. After the third week in an 8-week period in a semester: 0%

Students using Title IV funds must adhere to the Return Title IV Funds policy. (See student handbook).
